Opossum Trapping Solutions

Opossum Trapping

A professional trapper will inspect your property for opossums and their attractants, identify active wildlife and set humane live traps.  Once caught, the opossum will be removed with care, minimizing stress and keeping litters with their mother when possible.

Direct Opossum Removal

In some instances, our professional opossum trapper may be able to capture and remove the animal immediately.  This can save time and money as compared with having to set traps and try to catch non-targeted animals.

Exclusion

Upon opossum trapping, we can identify and seal any potential points of re-entry.  This includes the professional repair of structures that otherwise would permit access to more animals.

Clean Up

Our opossum trapping service not only removes the animals but it safeguards families from diseases carried in their droppings.  It helps prevent property damage, while offering thorough cleanup and professional repairs in attics and other affected areas of the home or business.

When it comes to opossums, they seem pretty harmless.  This is not the case, however.  Opossums spread all kinds of disease to humans and pets.  Some of the more common opossum diseases are named with pretty big words, like tularemia, leptospirosis and tuberculosis — and this is just a few.  Since these can all potentially kill humans and pets, it is very important to have opossums removed from your home and property as soon as possible.

The most common transmission means for these diseases is through humans or pets coming into contact with opossum feces.  Another method, though rare, is by humans or pets being bitten or scratched by a sick opossum.  Finally, any places the opossum has urinated or left saliva can be infected as well.

Beyond the health risks, opossums can potentially get in serious fights with young children or smaller pets.  Even larger pets can be attacked if they corner an aggressive, frightened opossum.  Any small animals or fowl you have on your property will likely be eaten by opossums, as they are opportunistic feeders.  Any eggs will probably be eaten quickly as well.

How Can I Trap Opossums?

Since opossums are larger nuisance animals which often seem milder, most people believe it would be simple to remove them on their own.  While a single opossum can be relatively simple (if you set a simple trap, bait it and possibly catch one), we don’t recommend doing it yourself.  Here is why.

Opossums are dirty.  Aside from diseases, they carry fleas and ticks which can be transmitted to pets and humans.

So when you trap one, you need to transport the opossum in a way where you don’t end up infested with these biting bugs, possible feces and microbes in your own vehicle, on your clothes or pets.

Further, opossum litters can range from 7 up to as many as 21 babies!  So if you have a mother that’s allowed to live in your neighborhood, you could have 20 more opossums on your hands sooner than you might think!

These points alone are why it is highly recommended to have a professional wildlife removal service such as ours come to remove opossums for you.  We know how to humanely remove opossums while keeping you and your family safe.
